What we offer
Tools & Machinery
Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and machinery for metalworking and fabrication, including:
MIG and TIG welders
CNC Plasma cutter
Marvel band saw
Large and small tube rollers
Bench grinders
Sheet metal shaping equipment: benders, rollers, English wheel, planishing hammers, brakes, and more.
Our latest additions are a shared electronics studio with a 3D printer and a machine shop with drill presses, a mill, a lathe, and associated tooling.
Studio Space
We have over 50 shipping containers that are converted into work-only artist studios for rent. Upper containers have a beautiful view of the bay.
We also have a 5000 sq ft shared metal shop, electronics studio, inside lounge, and social deck outside.
Studio prices:
Upper Studios: $500 per month
Lower Studios: $600 per month
For the right project, we also rent indoor and outdoor space for temporary (2 month+ build projects). We also offer some limited shop spaces for Burning Man honorarium projects during build time.

Bayview-Hunters Point, San Francisco Community Residency Program
To provide artistic and career-enriching opportunities and support and connect with our local community, The Box Shop hosts a one-month residency program for members of the Bayview-Hunters Point community.
Each month, one of our neighbors is selected to work on a proposed project at The Box Shop. Each resident is provided with a 5’x8’ container studio, access to the Box Shop communal equipment, and a mentor to help them see their project through.
