Epic Artistry
Experience an electrifying night where we shine the spotlight on many fierce and fabulous female artists of The Box Shop and the Bay Area. Dive into a world where sculpture and industrial arts come alive in the most spectacular way. Multiple sculptures will light up the night alongside a stunning array of other sculptures, installations, and visual art—some finished, others in the midst of creation before their premiere at Burning Man 2024.
Featured Installation: Pulse by The Flaming Lotus Girls
Feel your heart race as you experience "Pulse" by the Flaming Lotus Girls. Standing at 12 feet tall, this anatomically correct heart syncs with your own heartbeat. Pulse will be accompanied by its brand new additions, built this spring. This isn't just art; it's a heartbeat you can see and feel!

BANG YOUR HEAD TO SOME PUNK ROCK! 1:00-3:30 PM
Live Music by Punk band The Dik Diks. They play Bay Area Naturewave with songs about extraordinary animals. The Dik Diks are: Kirk Lombard on batslide and vocals, Cary Kirk on guitar, Josh Lindenfelzer on drums and Wiley Evans on tuba. We’ll also have DJ Junkdrawer spinning experimental punk tracks on vinyl - obscure trax on wax!

Songbird Music Festival at The Box Shop
The Box Shop Partnered with SFAC grant recipient the Songbird Festival to collaborate in a day of live music, performances, and art. To further engage the community, attract new audiences, and invite the public to view monumental artworks being created at The Box Shop, we hosted an evening of festivities that attracted and brought hundreds of visitors to our space in one evening. Anarchist Coffeeshop Open Mic Night
The Box Shop partnered with a Bay Area collective, Anarchist Coffeeshop, to collaborate and host an open-mic night that included hosting tables and info sharing for local social justice groups and nonprofits. The event featured several dozen performers, poets, bands, musicians, and mural tours. Approximately 350 attendees visited the event and neighborhood, helping to support the local economy.
The Box Shop Mural Fest
To further engage the community, attract new audiences and officially promote The Mural Project, The Box Shop hosted a two-day festival that attracted and brought hundreds of visitors to our space over the weekend. Both days included hosting dozens of local art and maker vendors, commissioning several live performances (dance, dance classes, live music), mural tours, live art making, and engaging neighborhood food vendors. Also included in the day’s activities were art-making activities for kids and families – a huge hit!
Liveable City Partnership and Activations for India-Basin Shoreline Park & The Box Shop
After the press event with SF MTA, The Box Shop partnered with nonprofit, Liveable City to promote an invitation to join various activities in the park throughout the month (our next-door neighbor). Activities included health and exercise-related classes, internet access, and viewing and tours of the new murals installed at The Box Shop through The Mural Project. This partnership also officially kicked-off the announcement of The Mural Project. The activations brought several dozens of visitors and engaged the local community.
SF MTA Partnership and Press Event
The Box Shop partnered with SF MTA and several other community organizations to support traffic and pedestrian safety measures and infrastructure to our block. The Box Shop hosted local Bayview artists, providing them with space, storage, and support to paint several long stretches of safety K-rails with colorful murals, which also act to guide and suppress traffic. On April 3rd, The Box Shop hosted a press event with local City agencies and community leaders to announce the successful partnership supporting the neighborhood. Approximately 100 attendees joined the affair, which included mural tours.
